NEW WEBSITE PROVIDES EDUCATION ON DRY EYE
WOBURN, MA.—October 15, 2002--
Jeffrey P. Gilbard, MD, an ophthalmologist that has specialized in dry-eye patient care and led dry-eye research programs since 1976, has launched a new website devoted exclusively to providing practitioners and consumers with the latest information on dry-eye disease. Accessible at www.dryeyeinfo.org, the site provides education on dry-eye, answers frequently asked questions, and offers useful links on the subject.
“Our goal in launching this educational website is to provide practitioners and patients with a definitive source for dry-eye information on the Internet,” commented Jeffrey P. Gilbard, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, Clinical Associate Scientist at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, and founder and president of Advanced Vision Research. “By providing meaningful education on this subject, we hope to increase awareness in recognizing dry-eye symptoms and understanding treatment options.”
In a research that spans over two decades, Dr. Gilbard has developed the tear osmolarity test and TheraTears® Lubricant Eye Drops. He has since written over 40 original articles, reviews and book chapters on dry-eye disease. Advanced Vision Research, markets TheraTears and has an active product development pipeline that promises to further help patients worldwide.
Information on dry eye may be obtained by visiting www.dryeyeinfo.org.
